Last week SeaWorld Orlando welcomed their first set of twin sea lion pups! This is very rare in the animal world as sea lions typically give birth to one pup at a time, so this is a grand feat for Mom. Fable, a nearly 14-year-old sea lion, is the proud mother of these cute little critters.

Sea Lion Pups Being Bottle Fed

Two California sea lion pups, estimated to be less than one week old, are being bottled fed every two hours at SeaWorld San Diego. Boy are they cute!

Lifeguards called SeaWorld’s animal rescue team when the two pups were spotted with their umbilical cords still attached in the La Jolla Cove area of San Diego this past weekend. SeaWorld’s animal rescue team spent the day monitoring the pups on the beach before determining that the mother sea lions were not returning to care for the young animals.

SeaWorld Orlando Rescues Injured Manatee

Last Friday, SeaWorld's animal rescue team put their love and strength together to rescue a 1,380-pound, injured manatee from the waters of Sykes Creek in Merritt Island, Fla. The 10-foot manatee had severe injuries to the front right flipper caused by crab trap line. Fishing line was also wrapped around both of its front flippers.

Claire the Manatee is Returned to her Natural Environment

This morning, SeaWorld Orlando’s animal rescue team returned its fifth manatee of the year into the waters at KARS Park in North Merritt Island, Fla. Claire, a 750-pound female, was rescued last June from the Cape Canaveral area after being hit by a boat.

Fluffy Flamingo Chick Hatched at SeaWorld Orlando

SeaWorld Orlando is caring for two recently hatched Caribbean flamingo chicks, one of which is pictured below!

Hatched on May 24, the youngster primarily stays in a brooder (similar to an incubator) to keep warm. Currently set at 96 degrees Fahrenheit, the temperature is intended to simulate the flamingo parents brooding the chick under their own feathers.
