Hi everyone …. I’m Kelly Terry and I have the good fortune of working for SeaWorld San Diego in the role of public relations manager. I’ve been with SeaWorld for 11 years and over that time, I’ve had many moments where I feel incredibly lucky: being in the stadium during the birth of a killer whale, watching an endangered Humboldt penguin chick hatched out of its shell, and witnessing the passion and dedication displayed every single day by countless SeaWorld employees, especially those who work with animals. Their professionalism and enthusiasm for theirjob makes myjob easy, which is to promote SeaWorld and all the great entertainment, education, animal rescue and conservation efforts we’re a part of.
I didn’t intend to end up in public relations nor did I ever dream I’d work at SeaWorld. At San Diego State University, I majored in psychology (great for analyzing my co-workers!), then I switched gears to journalism and was a community news writer for The San Diego Union-Tribune. Understanding the news media really helped me transition into public relations at SeaWorld, where I have the opportunity to use the power of the written word to convey a message about San Diego’s No. 1 tourist destination. I love to write and I love SeaWorld: what a winning combination!
