Flying cross-country with penguins and monkeys to appear on TV requires a serious sense of adventure. When people I meet hear that this is a part of my job, they are always taken aback. It’s certainly a different way of life, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I handle national media relations for all 10 SeaWorld Parks. My job, in a nutshell, is telling all the great stories about our parks to the public through broadcast and internet media – from TV programs, to radio shows to blogs.
I have worked for SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment for a total of five years. After high school I took a leap of faith to leave a small Massachusetts town to attend college at Stetson University in DeLand, Fla. I then went to Rollins College to work toward my master’s degree -- that’s what brought me to Orlando and my career with this company.
My favorite part of my job is traveling to different parts of the country and sharing the SeaWorld story. Many people I meet say they never knew before that SeaWorld had roller coasters. Others had no idea that we rescue hundreds of injured animals every year. And I get to be the one to spread that message – how can you beat that?
As a PR professional, I also enjoy keeping up with current trends in social media and seeing how the PR landscape is continually changing. I think this new blog we are launching is a perfect example of that concept. So, stay tuned, check back here often and please feel free to comment on my posts or ask questions.
