Mother-and-Calf Manatee Pair Rescued by SeaWorld Orlando This Mother’s Day

This past Sunday, Mother’s Day, the SeaWorld Rescue Team responded to rescue a distressed mother manatee – and her still-nursing calf – near Satellite Beach, Fla. and brought the pair back to SeaWorld Orlando. The mother has a collapsed lung, which creates buoyancy issues, so our team outfitted her with a “manatee wetsuit” they designed for such rescue cases. The wetsuit helps assist the manatee with floating and allows our team to draw out trapped air and fluids.

SeaWorld Orlando Returns Five Endangered Animals Following Rehabilitation

Today our Animal Rescue Team returned a male manatee to Kennedy Point Park in Titusville, Fla., and four green sea turtles to Florida’s east coast beaches following a successful rehabilitation at SeaWorld Orlando.

SeaWorld Orlando Returns 11 Endangered Kemp's Ridley Sea Turtles

This morning, our Animal Rescue Team headed out to the Canaveral National Seashore to return 11 endangered Kemp’s ridley sea turtles to the warm waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Today’s return brings the total number of sea turtles returned by the SeaWorld Orlando Animal Rescue Team to more than 50 this year alone.

SeaWorld Orlando Participates in Earth Day Cleanup

Although we celebrate Earth Day every day at SeaWorld Orlando, each year our SeaWorld Cares team works on a local environment-project in celebration of our planet. This past weekend our SeaWorld Cares team assisted with a variety of land management projects, including invasive plant removal, at Nehrling Gardens. These historic gardens were established in 1885 by famed horticulturalist, Henry Nehrling.

For the past month, our Animal Rescue Team, including veterinarians and aviculturists, has been caring for two American white pelicans that were brought to SeaWorld for rehabilitation due to substantial injuries.

SeaWorld Orlando Animal Rescue Team Returns Highest Amount of Turtles in 5 Years

This morning, our SeaWorld Orlando Animal Rescue Team returned 17 juvenile Kemp’s ridley sea turtles to Canaveral National Seashore. This is the largest turtle return we've had since 2010 when our team returned 30 turtles back to the ocean, all of which were rescued from a massive oil spill near the Gulf of Mexico.

Manatee Appreciation Day - SeaWorld Orlando Returns Rescued Manatee Back Home

Today, our Animal Rescue Team returned a male manatee by the name of Streak back to the same waters it was rescued from. The manatee was rescued last December from Blue Springs State Park in Florida by our team and members of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC).

SeaWorld Orlando Returns 25th Manatee of the Year

Meet Magnolia, a female manatee that was returned to the warm waters of Crystal River, Fla. yesterday by our Animal Rescue Team.

This curious sea cow was rescued 500 miles north of our park in Alabama earlier this year after being spotted by local authorities suffering from injuries and cold stress.
