Fluffy Flamingo Chick Hatched at SeaWorld Orlando

SeaWorld Orlando is caring for two recently hatched Caribbean flamingo chicks, one of which is pictured below!

Hatched on May 24, the youngster primarily stays in a brooder (similar to an incubator) to keep warm. Currently set at 96 degrees Fahrenheit, the temperature is intended to simulate the flamingo parents brooding the chick under their own feathers.

Species Spotlight: Lesser Flamingo

What’s gray and fluffy and soon to be pink all over? SeaWorld San Diego’s cutest new resident, a rare lesser flamingo chick. Born July 30, the chick is being raised behind the scenes at the park’s Avian Center until it reaches three months old, when it will be introduced to the flock.
