SeaWorld San Diego has a world of experience when it comes to animal transports. We have the “transport guru” Keith Yip who facilitates and organizes all SeaWorld transports as well as years of experience among the support staff to accomplish the transport plan he creates. But after talking to Keith about Szenja’s transport to the Pittsburgh Zoo, he couldn’t stress enough that her transport was very unique.
American alligators are featured at SeaWorld San Diego's Animal Connections.
SeaWorld San Diego recently returned seven brown pelicans back into the wild. The squadron of pelicans was rescued from all the way in Arizona several weeks ago after they were blown off course by monsoonal weather as they were flying north from their breeding areas in Baja.
A SeaWorld San Diego animal rescue team comprised of Eric Otjen and Jody Westberg helped disentangle a young California gray whale in Dana Pt. harbor, just north of San Diego. They whale, thought to be about a year old, had rope and gill netting around its mouth, pectoral flippers and tail fluke area. After nearly two hours of painstaking work, the netting was cut away and the whale was able to swim freely. While the young animal is still swimming in the vicinity of the harbor, it is hoped that it will soon be able to join the northern migration.
