SeaWorld Orlando is using a custom orthopedic brace to care for once-stranded pilot whale. The whale has scoliosis – or curvature of the spine – that prevents her from swimming normally.

The pilot whale is a high-flying member of the dolphin family and can be seen making audiences smile during the spectacular “Blue Horizons” show at SeaWorld San Diego, alongside Atlantic bottlenose dolphins.

Three times each day, a team of animal experts at SeaWorld Orlando perform hands-on, physical therapy on a once-stranded pilot whale. "300" has scoliosis, or a curvature of the spine.

SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment Vice President of Veterinary Services, Dr. Chris Dold, was on site at the new Cetacean Rehabiliation Facility at SeaWorld Orlando to provide an update on how the newest resident, once-stranded pilot whale 301, is doing in her new home.
