SeaWorld Orlando Now Caring for Rescued Loggerhead Sea Turtle

A sub-adult loggerhead sea turtle was brought into SeaWorld Orlando's care yesterday, August 7, after it was spotted floating in the ocean by a resident near Melbourne, Fla. Located on Florida’s east coast. Melbourne’s Sea Turtle Preservation Society brought the turtle to SeaWorld for emergency care and rehabilitation.

The Big Story of Lil Joe

In July of 1989, a young orphaned manatee was rescued near Daytona Beach, FL and brought to SeaWorld’s Manatee Rehabilitation Facility. Weighing only 42 pounds, this tiny calf was named Lil Joe. After hands-on care, Lil Joe would grow to become a special, not-so-little manatee.

Rescued Fur Seal Becomes an At-Sea Researcher

A Guadalupe fur seal rescued and rehabilitated by SeaWorld San Diego is helping with important research. The year-old female was found emaciated and comatose on a San Diego-area beach in March, and veterinarians determined she was hyperglycemic and hypothermic. After months of medical treatment by SeaWorld animal care specialists, she made a full recovery.
