SeaWorld Orlando's Animal Rescue Team Rescues Five Animals in 74 Hours

Kids may be back in school and families are settling into a routine, but this week was far from routine for our Animal Rescue Team! In fact, they helped five animals in just 74 hours – two sandhill cranes, two sea turtles and a dolphin. On call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, our Animal Rescue Team is able to leave for a rescue at a moment’s notice.

SeaWorld Orlando now Caring for Female Harbor Seal Rescued near Palm Beach, Fla.

Not all days are the same for SeaWorld's Animal Rescue Team! On Sunday, a wayward female harbor seal was rescued by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) from the Lake Worth Inlet in nearby Palm Beach, Fla. Our Animal Rescue Team met up with FWC and then transported it here, to SeaWorld Orlando, for rehabilitation and care.

SeaWorld Orlando Animal Rescue Team Returns Final Kemp’s Ridley Sea Turtle Rescued off the North East Coast in 2012

Early this morning, SeaWorld Orlando Animal Rescue Team members returned a juvenile Kemp’s Ridley sea turtle to the Florida waters at Canaveral National Seashore following more than a year of extensive treatment and rehabilitation at SeaWorld Orlando.

SeaWorld Orlando Now Caring for Cold-stressed Manatee Rescued Near Jacksonville, Fla.

Wintertime in Florida can be difficult for our manatee friends, as the waters temperatures can drop to be much chillier than the remainder of the year. Just this weekend, a sub-adult male manatee was rescued near Jacksonville, Fla. after suffering from symptoms caused by cold stress. Sea2Shore, an organization we partner with, had been monitoring the manatee for the past couple of weeks and notified the Jacksonville Electrical Authority of his condition.

SeaWorld Orlando Returns Two Sea Turtles to Canaveral National Seashore

This morning, our Animal Rescue Team successfully returned two sea turtles to Canaveral National Seashore in Titusville, Florida. Before their return, the green and loggerhead sea turtles had been receiving rehabilitation and care for several months at our facilities.

SeaWorld Orlando now Caring for Loggerhead Turtle Hatchling

Our animal care team is now caring for a loggerhead sea turtle hatchling brought to our facilities on Wednesday. The hatchling was found by the Sea Turtle Preservation Society near Patrick Air Force Base in South Cocoa Beach, Fla. The turtle is less than one year old and weighs just under one ounce and is 6 centimeters long. It was found with part of its left front flipper missing.

SeaWorld Orlando Continues to Provide Rehabilitative Care for Four Manatee Calves

If you’ve been following our recent rescue stories, you met the manatee calf we took in last week, rescued from Cape Canaveral Air Base. But did you know our Animal Care Team is now caring for four manatee calves? Rescued at independent times over the past year, these four calves, who range in age from only a couple months old to about six months, continue to receive around-the-clock care from the SeaWorld Orlando Animal Care Team.
