SeaWorld and Busch Gardens Animal Ambassador Julie Scardina and a couple of Magellanic penguins kicked off “SeaWorld’s Pole to Pole Inaugural Fun Run,” on Saturday, April 28. Nearly 350 participants were able to stroll by sea lions, waddle past penguins and dash by dolphins as they supported conservation efforts from the North to the South Pole.

The race began at the Penguin Plazabetween the entrances to the Penguin Encounter and Wild Arctic.

Participants received a T-shirt, and there were raffle opportunities, including two Platinum Annual SeaWorld Passports! At the start and finish lines, participants may enjoy a variety of refreshments, animal meet and greets, costume character appearances and were able to learn more about environmental challenges facing polar animals due to climate change.

All proceeds from the 5K run will benefit Hubbs-SeaWorld Research Institute (HSWRI).
