SeaWorld Orlando Partakes In World Ocean Day Cleanup

Today is World Ocean Day. Millions of concerned citizens from around the world are doing what they can to help the world's waterways. No matter where we live, the ocean is our life support system, providing much of the food, water and oxygen we need to survive. And while the ocean is vast, it's not without limits. Pollution, overfishing and overdevelopment are just a few of the hazards threatening the bounty that many take for granted.

How is SeaWorld lending a hand?

From first-hand interactions with rescued animals, we at SeaWorld know marine wildlife suffers from these dangerous threats too. From birds to turtles to manatees, we have helped thousands of animals affected by pollution and other factors since our rescue program began more than 40 years ago.

Last year's World Ocean Day Cleanup

This morning, dozens of SeaWorld Orlando team members headed to Blackthorne Park in Florida's Pinellas County to participate in a World Ocean Day Coastal Cleanup coordinated by one of SeaWorld's conservation partners, the Ocean Conservancy. Blackthorne Park is the perfect place for a cleanup because the Gulf of Mexico’s currents push marine debris onto the park’s beaches and mangrove hammocks. The cleanup will restore the area to its natural beauty.
