A recently rescued manatee continues to recover from cold stress at SeaWorld Orlando's Animal Rehabilitation Center.

Rescued on March 9, the young female's condition has improved but she still remains in guarded condition. Park veterinarians and animal care specialists are treating her with a regiment of antibiotics and fluid therapy. They also performed x-rays to check for internal injuries and infections.

SeaWorld's Animal Rescue Team rescued her from a canal near Satellite Beach, Fla. This was the park's 11th cold-stress manatee rescue this year - an unusually high number caused by Florida's unseasonably cold and extended winter. Cold stress can occur when manatees spend an extended period of time in water that dips below 60 degrees.

SeaWorld is the global leader in the rescue and rehabilitation of manatees. The park's Animal Rescue & Rehabilitation Team is on call 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. SeaWorld has released seven manatees this year.
