The park’s annual community outreach event also benefits wildlife

SeaWorld San Diego’s annual electronic recycling event was a huge success. More than 400 San Diegans participated in this popular community outreach event which collected more than 30,000 pounds of used electronic material. Everything from modern laptop computers, printers and cell phones to decades-old television sets and record turntables were dropped off at the park.
“We’re not only diverting tons of potentially hazardous material from area landfills, but we’re also helping a local conservation organization with its efforts to protect wildlife and wild places,” said Julie Byford, the park’s environmental coordinator. SeaWorld will be donating the money raised from the e-recycling event to the San Diego chapter of The Conservation Fund.

This is the park eighth electronic recycling event since 2007. Combined, these events have collected more than 300,000 pounds of used electronics and have raised more than $30,000 for conservation programs in San Diego and around the United States.
