Meet North America’s only mammal marsupial, the opossum! Females have a pouch just like their Australian cousins, the kangaroo. The mother opossum carries and nurses her young in her pouch until they are about 2 to 3 months old. Normally placid opossums prefer to avoid all confrontations if possible. Yet they face great challenges from people, our cars and our pets. You can help the opossum -- slow down and watch for wildlife when you drive! You can meet Scout, our two-year-old opossum at the SeaGarden at SeaWorld Orlando. Animal interactions occur all throughout the day – but on “Just For Kids” event days the SeaGarden will open earlier than usual, at 9 a.m.
